Davenport jazzes things up for Saturday show

September 26, 2013 by

The Caravan of Thieves, a group headed by married couple Carrie and Fuzz Sangiovanni, will be bringing some jazz, swing, and gypsy-themed music to Davenport this weekend, as part of a travelling road show.

Poster printing and other printing services might have been used to spread the word about this four-piece’s appearance in this community to people in the surrounding areas.

The group was started by the Sangiovannis, although in 2008 two new musicians were added, Brian Anderson and Ben Dean. The group has released many albums that have debuted to very positive reviews and has shared the stage with performers of the likes of John Jorgenson, John Hammond, Tony Trischka, the Punch Brothers, Iron and Wine, Keb Mo, Nanci Griffith, Glen Campbell, Dan Hicks, and Emmylou Harris.

The music is a combination of jazz, pop, rock, and folk and is enjoyed by people of all ages. Behind the gypsy swing jazz rhythms are the violin, the upright bass, and the acoustic guitar, plus the fantastic harmonies and outstanding vocals of the group. Some of its songs include ‘Raise the Dead’, ‘Savoy Truffle’, and ‘Candy’.

The Caravan of Thieves will be performing live on Saturday, September 28, beginning at 8:00 pm at the RME Community Stage located at 129 N. Main Street in Davenport, Iowa. To purchase tickets, or learn more about this group, please visit the River Music Experience website or call the box office at 563-326-1333. Tickets are priced at $5 each.
