Senior Health Fair opens May 3rd
April 6, 2012 by James
This is the twelfth annual Senior Health Fair being held in Portage. This event is sponsored by the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Senior Services. This event is free to the public and includes lunch, lots of good advice, and a vast collection of vendors. This event brings together most of the local health organizations and is held in the Oakwood Ballroom. There will also be financial services, recreational facilities, senior’s life services, and a host of advice from the Portage Library, the Police Department, the Fire Department, and the Portage Parks Department. This year, there are already more than sixty vendors looking to take part in this event, with more being added each day. This event features health screenings, healthy life demonstrations, and a free lunch for all seniors provided by Porter Health Systems.
Handicap access vans are available for this event from 8:30am to 1:30pm, courtesy of Porter County Aging and Community Services. These vans will move the seniors attending from the lower levels to the upper levels as needed. The opening comments will be by Portage Mayor, Olga Velazquez, and take place at 9:15am. CEO of Porter Health System, Jonathon Nalli, will speak at 11:15am.
Local companies who wish to sponsor or advertise themselves at events, such as this, should look to local print companies to produce flyer printing and poster printing for community events such as this. This event is free. For more information, to register, or to arrange a ride to and from the event, please call 219-762-1675 today.
