September 3, 2012 by Sarah
Woodland Park will hold The Harvest Festival and Fine Arts Festival in Portage at the park on Willowcreek Road by the Oakwood Grand Hall. Held as a two-day event, the program on the Saturday begins at 10:00 am and lasts until 5:00 pm, while Sunday’s festivities will run from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
Entertainment will be provided through most of the first day with Jeff Starver performing from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Directly following at 2:30 pm will be Christina and Johnsie, lasting until 4:30 pm. On the second day of the festival, Dave Hutchins will perform from noon to 2:00 pm, before Ronn Barany takes the stage from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm. Print companies may well have already completed flyer printing for promoting the acts due to perform in the Harvest Festival, along with the art vendors.
Kim’s Specialty Chocolates will be furnishing free chocolate samples to patrons, and the delicious chocolate can be purchased during the festival as well. Wine sampling will also be a part of the festival with Buck Creek Winery, Easley Winery, and Butler Winery offering the tastings to guests, as well as bottles to purchase.
Original art exhibits will be offered for sale to patrons in the Fine Arts Festival, presented by the Indiana Arts Commission during the Fall Festival two-day event. Local artists can register to sell their artwork, provided that it is original and not copied.
Scheduled for October 6 and 7, entry forms and more information can be seen on the Portage Parks Department website or the organizers can be contacted by phone at ext. 303 when calling 219-762-1675.
