Salon Salon and Salon 151 will be offering $20 haircuts on February 12 from 9 am-4 pm. All proceeds will go to support United-4 a Cure.
United-4 a Cure is an organization run by the Riviera Country Club, Pinnacle Homes and several other Orland Park businesses. The organization has been raising money for cancer research since 1988; so far they have raised $1.3 million. The organization supports many cancer research facilities including University of Chicago Cancer Research, Hope Children’s Hospital, the MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Mayo Clinic. Money is raised through various local events such as the Car and Cycle Show and an annual Valentine’s Day charity ball.
It is important for local businesses to support important organizations such as United-4 a Cure. Not only do they help in the fight against cancer but sponsoring this organization shows that those businesses really care about the community in which they live and work. Those who live in Orland Park and elsewhere appreciate it when a company shows they care and are more likely to want to do business with them. While a company can donate funds directly, it can help to raise community spirit if they decide to run a public event like the cut-a-thon. Local printing companies can help inform the public about each event by providing a low-cost flyer that can be sent out through direct mail. Company owners will also find that by putting on such an event that they will be helping raise employee morale and happy employees are more productive.
