St. Patrick’s Day starts early in Oak Forest

February 13, 2013 by

The Oak Forest Fleadh parade will kick off a day of celebrations in the city. The annual event is presented by the City of Oak Forest and the Oak Forest-Crestwood Area Chamber of Commerce.

The parade’s grand marshal will be former Senator Maggie Croity. The parade will travel down Cicero Avenue from 151st to 159th Street beginning at 11:00 am. Everyone in the community is welcome to take part in the parade, including families and local businesses. In addition to the parade, there will be several other events taking place, including a 5K race beginning at 8:30 am. Organizers will be accepting non-perishable food items for the St. Damian Food Panty and all those taking part will receive a T-shirt.

There will also be an open bike ride, customer appreciation parties at various local stores, and restaurant and pubs will be holding open houses. It will be a great opportunity for those in the community or from surrounding areas to discover some local businesses.

Sponsorships are available from $250 to $1,000. Various sponsor perks will include having a company name on race T-shirts or on event banners which hung on Cicero Avenue.

The day’s events will more than likely attract visitors from around the area, including many from nearby Orland Park. Organizers will no doubt be working with local printing companies to prepare the event banners and other marketing tools, such as advertising flyers.

The 4th annual Oak Forest Fleadh Parade will take place on March 9.
