Oak Park to discover new artists
July 20, 2012 by Sarah
The Oak Park Art League’s annual artist member exhibition will take place from August 10 – 31. An opening reception will be held on August 10 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
Artists can submit up to three works of art, with a hanging fee of $10 for each of the first two and $5 for the third piece. This is a juried exhibition and awards will be given out to the first, second, third, and People’s Choice winners. The exhibit is an excellent opportunity for the public to discover what is going on with art in Oak Park.
The Oak Park Art League offers classes, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and studio space. The League recently took control of Expressions Graphics, a local printmaking studio and gallery. They will be continuing the same programs that the studio offered before, including paper work and book binding.
Those who work for printing companies in Oak Park will probably be very interested in how the acquisition of Expressions Graphics will impact the printmaking community in the area. It is possible that it will result in more local artists being trained in the art of printmaking and that might mean more people who are interested in working in the industry. It might also give those already working in printmaking a further outlet for their creative expression and a chance to share their art work with a larger community.
The Oak Park League is open to everyone. Even those who are not planning a career in art can help soothe their creative urges by taking an art class.
