Healthy fun to be had in Des Plaines
August 9, 2012 by Mark
This Saturday, August 11, the 4th Annual Family Fun Festival, sponsored by Holy Family Medical Center, will take place at 150 N. River Road, Des Plaines. The event begins at 10:00 am and runs until 2:00 pm.
This is a medically-oriented family festival with all types of health-related activities presented in a fun way, including Zumba dance classes, library story time, a farmers’ market, Avon makeovers, and checkups for dollies and teddy bears. There will also be free health screening checkups for cholesterol, body mass index, blood pressure, a YMCA climbing wall, and glucose testing. There will be a helicopter landing demonstration held at noon, provided that the weather is good, and children can enjoy face-painting. Although the first 300 youngsters aged 5 to 17 will receive school supplies tucked neatly in a free backpack, they must be in attendance to receive them. There will also be informational health booths available during the festival, as well as an ‘ask the doctor’ booth.
A number of local services and governmental figures have lent their support to the festival in the form of sponsorship, including State Senator Dan Kotowski and the Rotary Club of Des Plaines. Poster printing and flyer printing may have been used to advertise this event to the public. Admission to this event is free and everyone is welcome. For more information on the festival, please visit the Holy Family Medical Center Family Fun Fest website or call the Center at 847-297-1800.
