Find Some Craft Supplies at the Legion
April 18, 2012 by Sarah
Craft Supply Swap 2 will take place at the American Legion Memorial Center on April 21 from 9 am-12 pm. Those who attend are asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food for the Main Township Emergency Food Pantry and the Niles Township Food Pantry. The event is sponsored by the Morton Grove Public Library and the Morton Grove Department of Senior and Family Services.
Everyone is being asked to donate their left over craft supplies and in return will be able to pick up supplies they might need themselves. The types of supplies needed to trade at the swap are yarn, fabric swatches, button, stamps, scrapbooking supplies and decorative items. The scrapbooking supplies will most likely include designer papers. Morton Grove stationery printers often supply the decorative paper that many people like to use in their scrap books.
The Main Township Emergency Food Pantry “supplies 150 boxes of food every month, which go towards feeding over 300 individuals” and over 3000 people use the Niles Township Food Pantry each month. With the economy the way it is currently and with many people losing their jobs or having to take large wage cuts, food pantry’s are becoming more and more important for a community. Those of us who do have enough food to eat should think of those who don’t and strive to help them. Public events such as the Craft Supply Swap help to raise both food and awareness of the importance of food banks.
