The next Women’s Interactive Networking Group’s (WINGS) meeting will take place at the McHenry Country Club on March 21 from 11:30 am-1:15 pm. Tickets are $28 for McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce members and $33 for non-members. Lunch is included and there is a choice of two meals, one vegetarian.

The WINGS networking meetings take place on the third Wednesday of each month. This meeting will be entitled ‘Women of Accomplishment’ and the guest speaker will be Lori Nelson of Family Services. The meeting will begin with a short networking opportunity from 11:30-11:45. Make sure you arrange with a McHenry printing company to have extra business cards printed before the next meeting so you will have plenty to hand out to those you meet. Introduce yourself to as many people as you can in the 15 minutes you have to network and invite one or two of those women to join you at your table for lunch. Make a point of following up with those you meet either that afternoon or the next day. Lunch and the rest of the program will begin at 11:45.

Women in business often face unique challenges when starting or running a business. While a referral network should not be based on the gender of the business person, it is important that they find other women to network with who have experiences some of those challenges. Having a mentor who has experienced the pitfalls and who has gotten over them will add great value to your network and will help with your business education.
