Take part in the McHenry Scramble
March 22, 2012 by Mark
This is networking with a twist. The McHenry Scramble will take place at The Lakemoor Banquet Facility on April 27 from 11am – 2:15pm. Tickets are $25 for McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce members and $40 for non-members; members can bring a non-member and each will pay $20.
The event will feature showcase booths for several member’s businesses, networking opportunities, door prizes and a “progressive” luncheon. Those who register for the luncheon will be sent three questions in advance they are expected to answer at the lunch. Guests will be seated at tables of 8 where they will take turns answering the three questions. Guests will be moved to a different table for each of the three courses and exchange their answers to the questions with each new group. It is similar to speed networking only that they are networking with seven people at a time rather than one on one.
Before lunch, guests will have 45 minutes to network with their fellow McHenry business owners and leaders. It would be wise to arrange for business card printing before attending this event. It is suggested that guests should bring, at least, 100 business cards to hand out at the McHenry Scramble.
As with every networking event, it is crucial to follow up, preferably that same afternoon. Business leaders often have very little time or patience for those who, attending networking events, promise all sorts of help and disappear or wait for weeks before following up. Waiting too long to follow up is a rookie mistake.
