Seminars deals with the dos and don’ts

The next Networking Extravaganza of the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce will take place at the chamber offices on August 24 from 7:30 am – 8:30 am. The topic will be “Do’s and Don’ts of Mixers” and it will be presented by Joni Boike and Frank Hosticka.
Mixers, or networking events, are often treated as social events rather that what they are intended to do, which is help grow referral networks. This seminar should teach business pros how to treat mixers more seriously and how to get the most out of the opportunity. This seminar itself will also be a networking opportunity and those attending can practice what they learn immediately. Of course, those who plan to attend this McHenry seminar would be wise to arrange for business card printing in advance, so that they are in pristine condition and they have enough cards to exchange with everyone they meet. Having those business cards professionally printed will help make a good all-important first impression.
Much has been written about networking and how to make the best out of each event . For example, Ivan Misner, founder of the international networking organization BNI, has put together an article on the Entrepreneur blog about the ‘10 Commandments of Networking.’ Those commandments include coming prepared with items such as business cards, brochures and a name badge, setting goals on how many people to meet, limiting the time spent with each person to no more than ten minutes, and exchanging business cards whenever the opportunity arises.
