New businesses to be unearthed in Island Lake

November 30, 2012 by

The Island Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Business Expo at the Cotton Creek Elementary School in just over a week’s time. Everyone over 18 will be eligible to win an iPad.

The aim of the Business Expo is to promote local businesses, to encourage business to be done among local companies rather than those located at the other end of the country, and to therefore improve the economy of the region. There will be over 35 booths representing area businesses, such as insurance companies, retailers, travel agencies, pet services organizations and various other businesses.

It will be a good opportunity for consumers and other business owners from all over the area, including nearby McHenry, to discover companies of which they are not aware and possibly discover new suppliers for their own businesses. With that in mind, many of those attending will likely arrange for a new business card printing order in advance. They will want to make sure they can keep in contact with companies that can possibly help their business become more successful.

In addition to the commercial exhibits, the Expo will also feature demonstrations from a local fitness center and an animal obedience center. The Smooth Moves Dance Troupe will perform and children can also get their picture taken with Santa Claus for $5 or they can bring their own camera. Proceeds will go to the Chamber’s scholarship fund.
December 8 from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Admission is free. For more information call 847-604-4522.
