Run to help support memorial building

July 31, 2013 by

The 9-11 Memorial Run will be taking place in Winnebago County this August. All proceeds will go to the building of the 9-11 Emergency Responders Memorial.

The run will consist of two parts: the 15K individual and the 5K team challenge, and the latter option will feature obstacles, a tire maze, the army crawl, and low hurdles. The winning team will be the one with the fastest combined speed, and there will be both men’s and women’s brackets. Everyone participating in either run will receive a participation gift, a T-shirt, and will be entered into a draw for door prizes. In the individual race, first, second, and third-placed men and women will receive medals.

The 9-11 Emergency Responders Memorial, which will be built in Rockford, will honor all of those first responders who have lost their lives in the line of work. Two pieces of steel from the World Trade Center will be incorporated into the memorial, which is expected to be completed by September 11, 2016.

Loves Park printing companies will likely be helping the organizers advertise this important event throughout the county. This might include providing flyers for marketing or banners to highlight the starting and finishing lines of the races.

The run will take place at the Peak Sports Club on August 25 from 7:00 am – 12:00 pm. Fees are $25 for individuals or $75 for a team of three. For more information about the run, contact Will Pederson at 815-997-3939.
