Drive hopes to haul in toys galore

The Village of Machesney Park Christmas Toy Drive has just begun. While it seems like a long way until the holiday season, the village hopes to collects enough toys to match last year’s efforts, in which enough toys were collected for 1,500 children in the Machesney Park/Loves Park area. New, unused toys can be dropped off at the Village Hall until the middle of December.
The toys collected are given to the Helping Hands Food Pantry for distribution to families who are currently being helped by the organization. Currently, the pantry provides food and services to over 350 families in the area. Those running the toy drive hope to collect enough so that each child can have three toys.
Local businesses can help to raise their standing in the community by donating items to the drive. They might also choose to work with Loves Park and Machesney Park printing companies to design a flyer to let the community know about the toy drive and let them know how they can help. Businesses can also encourage their employees to hold their own toy drive in the workplace and deliver them to the Village Hall. A friendly competition could be set up amongst employees, where the person who does the most work towards the cause can receive a reward, such as a day off work or a gift card.
Every child wants to receive at least one toy during the holidays and this toy drive will ensure that no child will go without.
