Convention celebrates popular comic culture

September 3, 2016 by

Geek’d Con 2016 is taking place for two days next month in Loves Park.

The convention is dedicated to the popular culture portrayed in comic books, television, film, and art.

Some of the best-known names in the industry will be on hand to help celebrate. They include writer of ‘Wonder Woman’ Will Pfeifer, actress Naomi Grossman from ‘American Horror Story’, Steve Cardenas from ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie’, and actress Lindsey McKeon who has appeared in shows such as ‘One Tree Hill’. The guests will take part in panel discussions, will pose for photographs and sign autographs.

There will also be other activities, which are sure to include video games, costume displays, and social events.

As with most conventions of this type, a popular part will be the vendors’ room. Attendees will have the opportunity to buy such items as posters, action figures, movies, collectible comic books, and even costumes to wear to the next convention.

It is likely that organizers have already been working with a Loves Park poster printing firm to help advertise the convention in the community.

Geek’d Con 2016 will be held at the Mercy Indoor Sports Center from October 1 to 2. Tickets are $7 each for adults and $5 for children aged 12 and younger, while a weekend pass is available for $25, which includes a T-shirt. Call 815-399-2233 for the most up-to-date information.
