The Annual Streamwood Stride hosts recreational fun

A multitude of races will enliven the community and get blood pumping at the Annual Streamwood Stride next month. Races include two run/walk events – a 10K and a 5K – as well as a Double Derby and a one-mile Fun Run.

The shortest of the runs is open to participants of all ages. For the kiddies ranging three to seven years old, there are several races open to encourage them to get involved in the sport.

The Streamwood Stride runs right next to Hoffman Estates and Arlington Heights, which usually helps it draw quite the crowd. Local businesses have the opportunity to advertise via banner printing companies and marketing suppliers.

Spirits are sure to be high at the event marking the 15th Annual Streamwood Stride. Guests are urged to show up early to stay ahead of the crowd. Following the races, all participants are invited to a pancake breakfast to revitalize their muscles and mind. They can look forward to sausage, pancakes, milk, juice, fresh fruit and hot coffee, served in the Park Place Recreation Center Gym.

The Annual Streamwood Stride is on June 8, with the activities kicking off at 7:30 am. The awards ceremony will begin about two hours later, concluding the brief but exciting event. Advance registration is on June 1. The races are held at 550 S. Park Boulevard at the Park Place Family Recreation Center.

All participants are guaranteed a goodie bag, T-shirt, and, of course, the pancake breakfast. The Kiddie Race and Fun Run participants will also all receive finisher ribbons.
