Hoffman Estates has it covered with annual quilt show

August 29, 2013 by

The Northwest Suburban Quilters Guild is holding its ‘Our Quilts in Bloom’ quilt show over two days this September.

Over 300 quilts created by members of the Guild will be displayed at the show. Various exhibits will feature wall hangings, antique quilts, and many varieties of the popular bed accessories. The ‘My Peaceful Garden’ members’ challenge competition will have two categories, one of which is for miniatures, wall hangings, garments, and accessories, while the other covers antique, youth, rail-displayed, and workshop entries. All of the challenge quilts must represent the theme in one way or another.

Two raffles will also be held during the day; tickets are $1 each or $5 for six. Raffle prizes will consist of a handmade quilt and the American Girl Doll ‘Saige’, along with dolls’ clothes. Guests can also bring in their quilts to be appraised by an expert. Rounding off the event will be a silent auction of miniature quilts and a vendors’ mall where people can pick up quilting accessories and other related items.

The organizers of the show will probably be working with Hoffman Estates printing companies to prepare for the proceedings. This could involve the printing of tickets and flyers for marketing the event throughout the area.

Our Quilts in Bloom will take place at the Prairie Stone Sports and Wellness Center from September 20-21 beginning at 10:00 am each day. Admission is $7, or free for those aged 12 and under. For more information about any of the day’s events, call 847-285-5400.
