Festival in Hoffman Estates to celebrate Celtic culture

April 21, 2013 by

Coming up in early May, ‘Celtic Fest’ will be a celebration of a diverse culture, which should provide a great day for many people to learn about their cultural background, or for those who are just interested in all things Celtic.

Among the attractions present will be arts and crafts vendors, Celtic food and beverages, children’s games and activities, Celtic music and dancers, a scotch and beer tasting, a pipe band invitational, soccer and golf sessions, and informational booths.

One booth will raise funds for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation by selling promotional items, face painting, and hair feathers. St. Baldrick’s provides treatment and support for childhood cancer patients. The Saint Andrews Society’s genealogy experts will be on hand as well, teaching guests how to search for their ancestors.

No doubt arts and crafts vendors will be selling items related to Celtic culture. This might include jewelry, pottery, clothing, and photographs. Many will also be working with Hoffman Estates printing companies to prepare for the festival. This might include designing and printing banners to draw attention to the booth, and digital business cards to pass out to customers or fellow artisans. Those providing information might also want to have brochures or flyers on hand to give out to passers-by.

The 2nd annual Celtic Fest will take place at the Sears Centre Arena on May 4 from 10:00 pm – 5:00 pm. More information can be obtained on this free admission event by contacting Sue Lessen at 847-781-2606.
