Early October offers pair of enriching events
September 17, 2013 by James
The second Saturday in October has two completely different festivals suitable for the entire family.
The first taking place on the day will be the 18th annual Pumpkinfest hosted by the Historic Sites Commission. Parents are encouraged to bring their children along to decorate and paint pumpkins for Halloween. There will be a small fee for paint, and the pumpkin and refreshments will be served. It promises to be a good way to get the little ones excited about the upcoming holiday, and for them to take home their own decorated pumpkin.
Later that day, the Hispanic Heritage Festival is taking place, and is a presentation of the Cultural Awareness Commission. With cultural performances from several Latin countries, as well as dancing, music, food, refreshments, and a piñata, the day looks likely to be an opportunity for local folks to get to know their Hispanic neighbors and their culture a little better.
There will certainly be time for families to visit both events, which will make for an activity-filled day suitable for everyone. Event organizers will probably invest in services such a flyer printing from Hoffman Estates printing companies to help advertise both events in the community.
Pumpkinfest will take place a Sunderlage Farm on October 12 from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm. The Hispanic Heritage Festival is being held at the Village Hall on the same day from 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm. Admission is to both is free.
