Daylong celebrations will mark the Fourth in Evanston

Evanston is celebrating this year’s Independence Day with several events throughout the city that will appeal to the entire family.

The main event of the all-day celebration will be the parade, which will start at 2:00 pm. This year’s theme is ‘Evanston’s Heroes are America’s Heroes: Our First Responders’. It will travel from Central Park Avenue East then down Central Street to Ashland Avenue. The parade will feature marching bands, floats, and plenty of flags.

There are set to be a variety of family-friendly activities at nine playground sites throughout the city beginning at 9:00 AM, with locations including Kamen West Park, Raymond Park, and the Willard School. Activities will include games, and track and field competitions. In addition, there will be tennis tournament finals at Ackerman Park.

A concert is also planned for the lakefront from 7:30 to 9:00 PM, with patriotic music being played by the Palatine Concert Band. This will be followed by a firework display over the lakeshore from Clark Street Beach.

This day of celebrations will no doubt attract many Evanston families to the downtown area. Organizers may invest in banner printing services to highlight areas in which events are taking place.
