Jazzy event to hit a high note this weekend
February 14, 2013 by James
An exceptional musical score focused around five generations of cantors in their synagogue will entertain those in Edwardsville this weekend.
In this production, Cantor Rabinowits has great concerns when his son Jakie shows more interest in jazz and ragtime music than the traditional musical choices of five generations in the family. Jakie leaves home one day after there is a bitter argument and harsh words shared between him and his father. A few years later, Jakie must make some hard choices after being given an important and wonderful new opportunity.
Mary Dale, a renowned stage performer, is instrumental in assisting Jakie, who becomes known as Jack Robin. After careful consideration, Jack realizes that his relationship with Mary and his family are in jeopardy when it comes to balancing his career, which leaves him with some really difficult choices to make. The audience will feel this character’s ups and downs as the story travels through his life and his choices to discover what the final decision produces.
Brochure printers may have been used to promote this exciting and challenging play to members of this area and surrounding areas, while any promotional poster printing is likely to help draw audiences in as well.
The Jazz Singer will be performed on Sunday, February 17, beginning at 3:00 pm at the Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville. To purchase tickets, please visit the Wildey Theatre website or call at 618-307-2053. Ticket prices vary, so it is worth looking into the selections before making a booking.
