The ‘Swing Kids’ Dance group holds a monthly dance party and this month’s event will feature “The Oldies”. Women are asked to come dressed up in their best poodle skirts, while the guys are asked to arrive in blue jeans and T-shirts, although this is optional.
Music will be a collection of the oldies from the 1950s and 1960s era. This collection will include rhythm and blues and classic rock and roll. The dance is open to anybody who is of 18 years of age or older and will feature light snacks and an assortment of beverages. The parking lot entrance is located on Whitelaw Avenue, which is one block to the east of the destination.
The Wood River Roundhouse is a dance hall from days gone by and is a major player when it comes to community events and scheduled activities, which often include swing dancing and square dancing. This dance is hosted by the Imperial Swing Dance Club, which is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the old-fashioned St. Louis Imperial Swing Dance.
It is not unlikely that poster printing and flyer printing have been used to promote this dance party to the public in the area. Admission to this event is $5 per person or free for members. For further information, please visit the Imperial Swing Dance Club’s website or call 618-254-1482.
