Saturday, September 29 will see the 2012 Johnny Appleseed Festival take place on the downtown streets in Crystal Lake, Illinois. This is a strolling festival and takes place on all the downtown streets between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

This is the largest one-day event that takes place in this community and is a fun-filled family event filled with activities for all ages and aimed at celebrating the coming of fall. This great festival includes live music, strolling entertainers, and an assortment of activities.

For the children, there are pony rides, pumpkin train, storytelling, face painting, pumpkin bowling, wagon rides and temporary tattooing. On the main street, Crystal Lake’s celebrity ‘Johnny Appleseed’ will stroll down the walkway sharing his great story. Besides these activities, the farmers’ market, an apple pie-eating contest, craft fair, and live demonstrations are certain to keep everyone busy for hours.

This is not forgetting the scarecrow decorating contest, where everyone will get to share their creativity with others. These scarecrows will be located downtown, attached to the light poles, and anyone can participate. Scarecrows are judged by such fields as being the scariest, most creative, most colorful, and the funniest design.

Poster printing and digital flyer printing may have been used to promote this festival to the community and surrounding areas. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. This is an outdoor festival, so organizers would like to remind everyone about hats and sunscreen. For additional information, please visit the downtown Crystal Lake website.
