Small businesses to take on big success tips

Crain’s Small Business Week is now here in Chicago, and there will be several events taking place in the city during the week, including the Small Business Entrepreneur Expo. The Expo is expected to attract more than 3,000 small business owners and entrepreneurs.

The event is a presentation of the Office of the City Treasurer. It will feature speakers, approximately 30 workshops, and exhibits from commercial and non-profit organizations. Among the speakers slated to appear are Tracy Schmidt of Crain’s Social Media, Steve Bernas of the Better Business Bureau, and Rachel Taylor from Convometrics. Workshop topics will include ‘How to manage your online reputation’, ‘Start-up secrets: propelling your business to the next step’ and ‘Composing an award winning business plan’.

Exhibitors can rent a six-foot table and two chairs, and this costs $350 for businesses and $25 for non-profit, government, or Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce members. Exhibitors will also be allowed to distribute handouts and marketing materials during the event. No doubt they will be seeking the help of Chicago printing companies in providing such materials to them in the form of flyers, booklets, and brochures. They might also consider investing in banners to draw more attention to their exhibits.

Crain’s Small Business Week is September 30 – October 4, and the Small Business Entrepreneur Expo will take place at the UIC Forum on October 4 from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. To learn more about the event, visit the official website.
