Chicagoland helps veterans find employment with a job fair

March 9, 2013 by

The second annual Hiring our Heroes Job Fair is set to take place in Chicago this month.

The job fair is a presentation of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and the Illinois Department of Employment Security. There will be over 75 employers on hand who will be giving onsite interviews; those interested in interviews should register in advance although walk-ins will be accepted if time allows. Skill matching will point them to the jobs they are suited for.

The event is free for both job seekers and employers. No doubt many of those employers from the Chicago area, in addition to interviewing people will also be providing informative literature about their companies. It’s likely that local printing companies will be helping to provide that literature which will describe what the company , what type of jobs they can provide and the type of people and/or skills that they are looking for in terms of employees.

Hiring our Heroes is a national program that seeks to find jobs for returning veterans and current military spouses. In just two years they have held over 400 job fairs to help employ a group whose unemployment rates are higher then normal. The Hiring our Heroes program has seen over 80,000 people find gainful employment.

The Hiring our Heroes Job Fair will take place at the Palmer House Hilton on March 21 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Admission is free. For more information call 202-463-5807.
