Chicago area art festivals to get people out of the city

For those in Chicago who wish to take a short trip out of the city, there are two free arts festivals taking place during the first weekend of August.

The 41st Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival will take place over two days and is a presentation of the City of Evanston Cultural Arts Division. The festival will feature live jazz and classical music, a silent art auction, a children’s craft tent, samples from area restaurants, and, of course, plenty of local artists, who will compete for various Best of Category prizes.

It will take place at Dawes Park from August 3 to 4 from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm each day. For more information about the event, call 847-448-8260.

At the same time, the Glencoe Festival of Art will also run. This is a juried festival that will feature over 120 artists in media such as painting, jewelry, photography, and 3D functional. There will be plenty of activities also taking place during the weekend, including live music from bands like as Cirrus Falcon, a graffiti wall and other art activities, food concessions, and shopping opportunities.

Organizers of the Glencoe festival have provided artists taking part with postcards to help advertise the event. Local printing companies offering postcard printing services were probably sought out to get this process underway.

The Glencoe Festival of Art will run from August 3 to 4 in downtown Glencoe from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm daily. More information can be found by calling 847-926-4300.
