Award luncheon and workshop taking place this month

February 1, 2012 by

Between the ATHENA Award Luncheon and ECI SCORE’s upcoming workshop, Champaign professionals will have several opportunities to network and learn this February.

While even the most casual of glances will reveal a full calendar for the chamber, it’s not every day that there’s an award luncheon listed as a date to circle. Taken from the Chamber of Commerce site, Champaign professionals encouraged to be at the Champaign Country Club February 16th where they can:

“Join Champaign County Chamber of Commerce members and representatives from local businesses as we honor the 2012 ATHENA Award Recipient and 2012 ATHENA Young Professional Award Recipient.

The recipient of the ATHENA Award demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in his or her business or profession; provides valuable service by devoting time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community; and assists women in reaching their full leadership potential…” (sic.)

Judging by the award requirements alone, this is a great chance for local business owners to network while acknowledging the accomplishments of others.

Although the awards are a major event in themselves, prospective business owners and professionals have the option of attending another informative presentation by ECI SCORE. The premise of this workshop is going to be “Starting a Small Business”. Priced at $25.00 a ticket and running from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, there’s a lot of information being covered here.

Whether hoping to exchange business card printing with other professionals or simply looking to learn more about running a company, the Champaign Chamber has got something for everyone.
