Amateur art event to showcase local talent
September 9, 2013 by Max
This weekend’s ‘State Town and Country Amateur Art Show’ will highlight the best of show artworks by amateur artists from towns across Illinois, including Champaign County artisans. Poster printing, flyer printing, and banner printing may have been used to spread the world about this art show to people who live in this community, as well as those who live in neighboring communities and outlying areas.
In order to qualify for the show, artisans previously placed their artwork in county competitions and took a place in the top three. Each county in Illinois hosts its own competition with the winners moving forward to the next level of competition. In this showcase, guests will see some of the state’s best examples of painting, drawing, photography, sculpting, pottery, crafts, digital media, and printmaking. The show is juried by professionals specializing in various areas of art. There are two divisions – one for adults and one for young people. All works entered into the show must have been new and completed before May 2012. Only blue ribbon and Best of Show are eligible for entry into the State Town, and Country Amateur Art Show each fall.
Admission to view this show is free to everyone, and it will be happening from Saturday, September 14 to Saturday, September 28 at the Springer Cultural Center located at 301 N Randolph Street in Champaign, Illinois.
