Festival to celebrate Irish culture in Illinois

June 15, 2013 by

Irish Fest is taking place in Arlington Heights for two-days this July, celebrating all things from the Emerald Isle.

The festival is a presentation of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum. It will feature dancers, singers, a Wee Folk Tent, a marketplace, and raffles. Some of the groups scheduled to perform at this year’s Irish Fest will be the Irish Heritage Singers, the Trinity Irish Dancers, the Dooley Brothers, and the McNulty Dancers.

In addition, there will be activities such as the Ceili workshop and a ‘best legs in kilt’ contest. The Wee Folk Tent will have face painting, balloon twisting, and lots of games for the kids. Raffle tickets will also be available for sale to help raise funds for the Arlington Heights Historical Society.

This year’s Irish Fest will very likely attract both vendors and visitors from all over the area, including nearby Rolling Meadows. The organizers will most likely be using products provided by local print companies to help advertise the festival; this might include purchasing flyers, brochures, or posters.

Irish Fest will take place at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum from July 26 – 27. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and museum members, and free for those aged 15 and under on July 26. The following day, it will be $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and members, and $2 for those aged 3 – 14. Raffle tickets are $5 each or $25 for six.
