Area events celebrate community togetherness

Now that the warmer weather is here, barely a weekend goes by without an outdoor festival or celebration of some sort. Two upcoming events in the Rolling Meadows area this June will celebrate community togetherness.
The annual Day in our Village festival will take place in Oak Park during this weekend. The festival is presented by the Community Relations Department and will feature plenty of food, a variety of activities, and information booths from over 100 Oak Park non-profit organizations, government departments, and local businesses. In addition, there will be swimming and games for people of all ages at Rehm Park.
After that, the Elk Grove Village Rotary Club’s Rotaryfest will take place over five days. It will feature a carnival, live music from bands like 7th Heaven, Sugar High, and the Modern Day Romeos, raffles, food and beer for purchase, and fireworks. A Hometown Parade will travel from Elk Grove Boulevard at Tonne Road to Lions Park.
Both events will likely attract visitors from nearby communities such as Rolling Meadows. Organizers may be working with local print companies to design and print flyers to advertise these annual events throughout the community.
The Day in our Village festival will take place this Sunday, June 2, at both Scoville Park and Rehm Park in Oak Park. For more information, call 708-358-5407.
Rotaryfest will take place from June 12-16 at Lions Park in Elk Grove Village. Admission is free, or guests can accept unlimited carnival rides for $20.
