Towson Winterfest is still in full swing

Towson Winterfest, which began on November 25, is still in full swing; it’s not too late to take part in the holiday festivities, it doesn’t end until December 17. There are still several special events coming up for both kids and adults. And, for those who have last-minute shopping to do, all parking meters in the downtown area will be free for two hours each day from December 18-24.
The events, sponsored by the Towson Chamber of Commerce, all take place in the downtown area. On December 16, street performers will be entertaining shoppers from 6-9 pm. On December 17, children and their families can have Breakfast with Frosty at 9am at Souris’. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. No doubt, local Towson printing companies have been busy creating festive decorations to help decorate the event.
Also on December 17, from 9:30-11:30 am, the kids can take in a holiday movie and do some shopping at Santa’s Workshop. Items in the workshop cost from $1-$5. The movie showing will be Frosty the Snowman.
Thursday, December 22 will be Men’s Shopping Night in Towson. Stores in the area will be offering sales and special promotions. Souris’ will provide free gift wrapping. Also throughout Winterfest several restaurants and bars will be offering drink and food specials every Thursday night.
While the downtown area of many small towns features boarded up shop fronts and very few visitors at this time of year, Towson’s downtown will be teeming with activity this December. Shopping at local stores helps the local economy and it also helps to foster pride in one’s community. You can probably find unique gifts for everyone on your list at local stores rather than in the big “box” stores.
