Future students to be supported over brunch

The Frederick County Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority holds an annual brunch to help raise money for their scholarship fund. The fund provides scholarships to local high-school students and for those involved in the chapter public services programs. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has over 200,000 members worldwide who are dedicated to “sisterhood, scholarship, and service.”
The 7th annual Elegance of Jazz Brunch will take place in the Grand Ballroom of the Turf Valley Golf Club in Ellicott City on December 1 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Tickets are $65 and suggested attire is described as “social dressy.”
The brunch will feature the music of the Just Friends Jazz Band, plenty of food to eat, and a silent auction. No doubt the event will draw sorority members and supporters from all over the area, including nearby Towson. Local printing companies have probably been contacted to provide services such as flyer printing to get the word out about this annual fundraising event.
Local businesses have are likely to have donated the items that will be used in the silent auction. While this is doing a great deal to help deserving students to receive a college or university education, it will also help the businesses that donate. Consumers generally appreciate it if a company they patronize does its part to help the community through charitable endeavors. It has been shown that companies that do a lot of charitable work often gain more business in the community as a result.
