The 11th annual Pink Ribbon Basket Bingo event will take place at Salisbury Moose Lodge on March 8 from 6:30-9:30 pm. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Proceeds from the event go to support Women Supporting Women which “supports programs and materials offered to breast cancer survivors and their families.” prizes available will include baskets from such vendors as Pampered Chef and Longaberger.
In addition, those attending are asked to bring old cell phones, iPods and ink cartridges; they will receive a free ticket in exchange for these items.

In addition to bingo there will be 50/50 draws and special raffles; refreshments will also be available for purchase. Salisbury printing companies have most likely been called upon to provide the tickets and bingo cards for this fun event.

Women Supporting Women has existed since 1993, their mission is “to provide awareness, education and support to all those affected by breast cancer.” The type of programs they provide include tote bags for women recently diagnosed with cancer, educational materials, recycling of electronics to women suffering from breast cancer, guest speakers for various events, mentoring and community outreach.

Organizations such as this provide much-needed services for women diagnosed with breast cancer. It is a very scary diagnosis and the support they receive helps them to cope better; knowing that someone is there to help goes a long way in achieving a positive mind-set to fight this terrible disease. Most people know someone who has had to fight this disease and events such as Pink Ribbon Basket Bingo are enjoyable ways to say they care.
