The Habitat for Humanity 25th anniversary awards dinner will take place at the Black Diamond Lodge in Fruitland on June 21 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Tickets are $50.

The dinner will be recognizing those people in the community who have helped Habitat for Humanity help families to realize the dream of home ownership. Sponsorships are available for $1,000 and $500; sponsors are recognized in the anniversary program booklet, receive tickets to the event and are given ticket to donate to a Habitat Family Partner. Local companies, including those from nearby Salisbury, can also buy ads in the anniversary program for $35 for a quarter page ad, $65 for a half page ad and $100 for a full page ad. Local brochure printers will most likely be working with the advertisers to provide the anniversary program that will be handed out to everyone who attends.

Habitat for Humanity builds homes for families who cannot afford to buy them on their own. It is not seen as a ‘hand out’ as the families must donate a certain amount of time working on the building of the house. they are also required to donate their time and energy to help build other houses for other needy families. They also must earn enough money on their own to be able to afford the monthly no-interest mortgage payments. Local businesses and individuals donate materials and hundreds of volunteer hours to the building of each house. Since they were founded in 1987, Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County has built 58 homes in the area.
