Alzheimer’s assisted with run/walk event

The annual St. Paddy’s Day 5K Run / 2 Mile Walk helps raise funds to support the MAC Inc.’s programs and services for those suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease.

The organization, which stands for Maintaining Active Citizens, is located in the Salisbury-Wicomico Senior Center. It provides such services as a wellness center, housing, and support services for seniors suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s.

The first 200 people who sign up to take part in the run or walk will receive T-shirts. Prizes will be given to the top three runners of each gender in different age-related categories, for the top three finishers in the Masters 60+ category and there will also be a ‘walkers only’ prize for the top finishers.

Events such as this are a great way to encourage the community to work to help its senior citizens who are suffering from dementia and for families to help ensure their loved ones are taken care of. Organizers of the run/walk are bound to be working with Salisbury printing companies to advertise the event in the community. Printing companies will also likely be providing various products such as finishing banners and runner numbers to help organizers keep track of winners.

The 14th St. Paddy’s Day 5K Run / 2 Mile Walk will take place at Salisbury Elks on March 16 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. Registration fees are $25 per person and all proceeds will go towards MAC Inc. For more information, contact Pam Wood at 410-742-0505 x123.
