The IAAN Global Summit on NGO Empowerment is taking place over four days next month, and is a presentation of the International Association of African NGOs. These are agencies that work independently of government.

The conference carries the motif of ‘Empowering NGOs through Awareness in the Age of Globalization’. It is expected that over 1,000 participants from Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America will take part. Many of those will be the leaders of various NGOs, private sector employers, and political representatives.

A couple of the guests who will be speaking at the conference include the President of Malawi, Dr. Joyce Banda, and Seema Aziz of CARE Pakistan. Topics to be covered will include human rights, global health, and climate change.

There will also be workshops, entertainment, and dinners. The conference will conclude with a gala reception, which will feature hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, entertainment, and the presentation of several grants and awards.

It is likely that the organizers of the conference will be working with Rockville printing companies to prepare. This might include producing flyers or posters to advertise the event worldwide.

The summit will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Rockville from September 5 to 8. Registration fees for the conference are $250 for IAAN members or $350 for non-members. The gala will take place on the final day from 7:00 pm – 3:00 am. Tickets are available at $100 per person. Those who need more information can call 301-920-1027.
