The Rockville Women’s Business Center is presenting the workshop “ABCs of Starting a Business” on May 30 from 9:30 am-12:30 pm. Tickets are $10.
With so many lay offs and large companies going under, a lot of people are interested in starting their own business. A business where they can work in the way that works best for them without having to bow under to the ways of others. However, it can be a very daunting prospect to decide to go it alone. Thankfully, the Rockville Women’s Business Center holds several regular workshops to help those who wish to start their own business; they also run workshops in writing a business plan as well as marketing and finances. They also hold regular networking luncheons.
Those who attend the workshop will learn what steps they have to take in order to start their own business. They will learn how to create a business plan, how to register that business with local, state and federal government, where they can get help and how to decide on a structure for their business.
The workshop will also be an excellent networking opportunity for those who attend. While they may not have their own business yet, most of them will most likely have a business card. Printing extras of those cards to bring would be a good idea. It will help those who plan to start a business to grow a referral network in the Rockville area that can help to take that business to the next level of success

It’s good to see an effort at encouraging local entrepreneurship. So much material online makes available the knowledge necessary today to begin a local business. But the local interaction through networking and lectures is most valuable for anyone starting fresh and looking for a mentor.
