The Pikesville 5K Run/Walk will take place at the Woodholme Center on July 15 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm and there will also be a one-mile Fun Run. The first 750 registrants will receive a T-shirt. Funds raised will go to support the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center and the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce.

Walkers or runners are sponsored by friends, family, and co-workers for their participation. Each participant will be given a package containing all the information and promotional materials from corporate sponsors. The day will start with registration and a pre-race warm up with Marilyn Pick. After the race, a full breakfast will be served to everyone who took part in the run or walk. There will also be lots of musical entertainment and prize drawings.

Competition is divided by age categories and the male and female winners in each section will receive a cash prize. The first place runner/walker will receive $100 cash, second place will get a $100 gift certificate, and third place will earn $50.

Corporate sponsorships are available, ranging from $250 – $5,000. Companies are also encouraged to donate food for the breakfast, items for the prize drawings, and promotional materials to be handed out to every participant. Pikesville printing companies help to provide promotional materials such as brochures, catalogs, and posters.

Over 1,000 people are expected to take part in the Pikesville 5K, which is a great way to show support for the community and for those who rely on the cancer center for support and treatment.
