Women’s History Month luncheon celebrates the women of Prince George’s County
February 28, 2013 by James
This year’s Prince George’s County Women’s History Month luncheon will take place in March, with the theme being ‘Inspiring Through Imagination’.
The luncheon celebrates Prince George’s County women who work in science, engineering, technology, and mathematics – all of which are male-dominated fields. In addition, the Gladys Noon Spellman Public Service Award will be given to a woman who is a county employee, is known for performing community services, and has demonstrated leadership in her chosen career. Also, recipients of the Gladys Noon Spellman Scholarships will be announced.
In order to qualify for the award students must be residents of Prince George’s County. They must also be in financial need, currently be in the 12th grade, have already been accepted into college or university and planning to study political science, public administration, public safety, and health services.
The lunch will be an excellent opportunity for businesswomen from the area, such as nearby Laurel, to network with one another. No doubt many of them will be checking to see if they need to place a new business card printing order in case they run out. Sponsorships of the event are available for $1,000 and all sponsors receive priority seating at the luncheon, a mention in the event program, and advertising space in the program.
The 28th annual luncheon will take place at Martin’s Crossroads on March 21 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Tickets are $40 each or $400 for a table of 10. For more information, call 301-952-4729.
