Annual event pays tribute to Dr. King

The 26th annual Tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is taking place next month, courtesy of the City of College Park.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Has the Dream been Deferred?’ The afternoon will start off with a speech from keynote speaker Judge Alexander Williams, Jr. from the Center for Education, Justice and Ethics. That speech will then be followed by readings, art displays, and live performances.

Among those who are slated to appear during the day is the Chinese Bible Church of College Park, the Friends Community School Chorus, the Talent Group for Children, the SGI-USA New Century Chorus, and the Metropolitan Washington Bahai Chorale.

It is likely that people from all over Prince George’s County, including those from nearby Laurel, will be interested in attending this free event. In order to help advertise events such as this, local print companies are often asked to provide easily distributable items such as flyers and posters to help spread the word.

The Tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be held at the University of Maryland Memorial Chapel on January 14 from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Admission is free of charge and is open to all ages. To find out more about this upcoming event, contact the City of College Park at 240-487-3570.
