The supermarket Wegmans may seek the help of printing companies in utilizing their services for business card printing for their opening location in Columbia June 17th. The move creates several jobs for potential Wegmans’ employees.

The first Wegmans opened in Hunt Valley, Maryland in 2005, which tipped off the massive response in Columbia that the residents there needed one as well. Columbia’s residents by substantial number have been requesting a Wegmans nearby for the past 7 years. It was obvious where Wegmans would open there next.

Wendy Webster will be the general manager of Wegmans that opens in Columbia and she is fully aware of how popular the store is. Huge crowds are anticipated to appear at Wegmans; an estimated 12,000 to 20,000 people on opening day alone and more the weeks to come. To cope with the expected massive amount of customers, Wegmans’ proactive approach is to bring in 550 Wegman employees from the other stores to assist the 700 employees of the new one.

To greater assist with the crowds, Wegmans has also spoken with the county police and nearby parking lot owners in an effort to direct traffic through timed traffic lights and additional parking for the first month in neighboring lots. Employees are not to park at the Wegmans’ lot, but off-site. They will take a prearranged shuttle to work.

Wegmans’ new address will be 8855 McGraw Rd, Columbia. It will be the 5th store in Maryland and 80th nationwide. As Wegmans continues to open in several other cities, it shows no signs of slowing down.
