Homeless to be helped through BBQ event

The Avalon Agency is holding a fundraising event to raise money for its soon to be completed Freedom Refuge Center, which will provide transitional housing for those in need, such as homeless people (including veterans), recovering addicts, and former inmates from Baltimore City.

Andy Nelson’s Southern Pit Barbecue is holding a barbecue to help raise money for the cause. Those who plan to attend must bring the event flyer with them in order for a portion of the funds to be donated to The Avalon Agency. No doubt Hunt Valley and area printing companies were called upon to provide the flyers being distributed throughout the community.

It sounds like a great event to enjoy some excellent barbeque and to help raise funds for a very worthwhile and necessary center. Guests will be given information about what the center will look like when completed and find out how it will help people to get back on their feet again.

The Avalon Agency, in addition to fundraising for the Freedom Refuge Center, also collects non-perishable food donations, clothing, toiletries, blankets, and tents. It provides much needed service to homeless men, women, and children in the Baltimore area.

The Avalon fundraiser will take place on February 12 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Tickets are from $10 to $30, depending on how much is eaten. Those who cannot attend can also make donations online on the Agency’s Facebook page. For more information, call Michele Love at 443-379-9803.
