Youth organization to generate fun and funds
September 10, 2013 by Sarah
Glen Burnie residents are encouraged to show their support for a youth service organization by attending a special fundraising on its way to the area.
Members of the Annapolis chapter of the Young Marines will be arriving in town to host their second annual Bull and Oyster Roast. The leaders of the group may be working with a print company to ensure that they have a solid supply of flyers and posters to promote this occasion.
The Young Marines offers programs for children ages eight through 18 and maintains a presence throughout the United States and in several other countries. Its goal is to promote education and a sense of community among young people. This year, its Annapolis branch will be raising funds for a camping trip.
Those who attend the fundraiser will have their choice of barbecue and picnic-style dishes, including pit ham, pit beef, hot dogs, hamburgers, macaroni salad, and coleslaw. Beverages will include soda, draft beer, and coffee. Dessert will also be served.
The evening will include live entertainment and a number of raffle drawings. Entrants will have a chance to win such prizes as gift baskets and a hot air balloon getaway.
The Bull and Oyster Roast is set for Sunday, September 29, at 1:00 pm. It will take place at Glen Burnie’s Veterans of Foreign Wars post (2597 Dorsey Road). Tickets will cost $35 for adults and $25 for children 12 and younger. Military veterans will also be admitted for $25.
