Glen Burnie kids preparing to trunk or treat

A popular dessert parlor in Glen Burnie is making preparations to host a family-friendly Halloween party.

Just a few days before the October 31 holiday, the parking lot at Bruster’s Real Ice Cream will become the site of a Trunk or Treat event for children and their parents. A printing company may be designing promotional flyers to drum up attendance at this festive occasion right now.

The Trunk or Treat will be geared toward kids of under 12 years of age. Youngsters will arrive at the ice cream parlor in their costumes to enjoy a safe candy-collecting experience. They will also be able to participate in Halloween-themed games. Each child will receive a complimentary ice cream cone.

The party will be free to attend, but parents will be encouraged to make donations toward the Anne Arundel County Food Bank when they make their stop at Bruster’s. They will have their choice between making cash contributions or bringing in the packaged food items they have already purchased. Proceeds from the afternoon will go entirely toward the pantry, which will be parking a truck outside of the ice cream shop.

This will be the Halloween event’s sixth year in operation. Last year’s party attracted a record number of attendees, and 2013’s celebration is expected to draw a large crowd as well.

Sponsors for the Trunk or Treat include Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Cypress Creek Therapy, and Outback Steakhouse.

The festivities will take place on Sunday, October 27 from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm.
