Glen Burnie fire department to hold luau fundraiser

July 12, 2013 by

Members of the Glen Burnie community will soon be turning out to support one of their local fire brigades at a Hawaiian-themed fundraising event.

The town’s Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its first-ever Pig Roast and Luau. A print company has likely been contacted to design flyers for this special occasion.

Those who attend the benefit will enjoy a meal that includes their choice of roasted pork, pit beef, or pulled chicken. Side dishes, soft drinks, and beer will be available as well.

The party will include plenty of music and dancing. Rockin’ Elvis, a tribute artist from nearby Calvert County, will be on hand to provide live entertainment for the crowd.

Throughout the course of the evening, attendees will be able to enter raffles, compete for door prizes, and participate in a silent auction.

Proceeds from the festivities will go toward the purchasing and upkeep of a new fire truck and safety equipment. The money raised will also be used to train the brigade in the latest firefighting and emergency response techniques. The fire department plans to make the luau an annual event.

The fundraiser will take place on Saturday, July 20 between 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm. The cost to attend will be $30 per person.

The address for the Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Department is 7549 Solley Road. Those who wish to secure tickets or would like to help with the event may phone Lieutenant Chile at (443) 250-9109.
