Learn How to Age Well

April 25, 2012 by

The Active Aging Expo will take place at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park on May 7 from 9 am-2 pm. The Expo is a presentation of the City of Gaithersburg, the Montgomery Village Foundation and several other local organizations. Admission is free.

The Expo will feature lectures, hands-on demonstrations, health screenings, facials, massages, entertainment and information about senior services. There will also be several vendors who sell products and services which cater to older adults.

Lectures include:
• “Lookin’ Out for You: On the Road to Safe Driving”
• “The Human Genome Project and Your Family Tree”
• “Practicing Safe Stress”
• “Ask the Suburban Hospital Pharmacist”

There will also be several fitness displays in topics such as laugh yoga, balance ballroom dance and Cane Fu.

Featured vendors will be for profit and non-profit organizations. Profit companies pay $75 for a table while it is free for non-profit companies. Companies in Gaithersburg who have products and services which might be of interest to older adults would be wise to take part in this expo. Local printing companies can provide them with banner printing and poster printing services to make their table stand out from the rest.

The population is rapidly aging and companies which provide for that older population will be smart to start planning for the boost in business that might very well come with this. Most older adults are still very fit and active so any business that provides fitness equipment or services aimed specifically at them will probably do well. On the flip side, many of them have specific health issues that come with age and they will be looking for products and services which will help them live independently.
