Ideas for holiday gifts as Frederick gets festive
October 15, 2012 by James
With the holidays on the way and people trying to decide what gifts to buy their friends and family, arts and crafts sales will offer plenty of choices. The items found at these sales will be handmade and original and it can be assured that the person receiving the gift will not have one already.
The Winterfest Arts and Crafts Market will take place at the Schifferstadt Architectural Museum on November 17 from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm and on November 18 from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Admission to the museum is a suggested donation of $5 and children 12 and under are admitted free. For more information, call 301- 668-6088.
The market will feature fine art and homemade crafts such as jewelry, ceramics, pottery, and fiber arts. The museum’s gift store will also be open during the craft market, selling artworks and crafts such as knitted items and books.
About a week later, The Festival of the Greens will take place at the Cultural Arts Center from November 23 – December 2. It will feature 120 trees, wreaths, and stockings decorated by local artists, businesses, and community organizations. These items will be offered for sale and there will also be a silent auction. Surrounding the festival, there will also be several activities, such as the Scents and Sweets Competition and the Holiday Artists’ Market. Admission is free and those interested can call 301-662-4190 to find out more.
The organizers of both events are likely to be working with Frederick printing companies to ensure that the general public is aware of the dates in which they are happening. Poster printing may help towards this end.
