Frederick to get its monthly art dose
September 2, 2012 by Mark
The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center is holding a trio of monthly ‘Art Parties’, with one in each of October, November, and December. This is a Community Supported Art project and the first one is only about five weeks away.
Each Art Party will feature musical entertainment, light refreshments, craft demonstrations ,and a mini-market featuring small works of art for sale. Those attending can also purchase art shares for $300 each and will receive three boxes of art at each art party. The work is created by a group of local chosen artists who create 25 new works of art and the artists are paid a small amount for each piece.
Events such as this are great for a community, as they introduce residents to new local artists and ensure that they will earn at least a small amount of money for their work. Community Supported Art is similar to Community Supported Agriculture in that it highlights locally-produced art.
Frederick printing companies will no doubt be helping the organizers prepare for this event by supplying products such as banners and flyers. Banners, if used, would help set the area for the Art Party and flyers could be distributed throughout the area to let residents know about this unique event. Flyers tend to be very popular in the promotion of events like this, largely because they are inexpensive and versatile.
The first of the scheduled events will be held on October 6, running from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Admission is free.
