Downtown Frederick to host holiday shopping extravaganza
November 9, 2013 by Sarah
Frederick residents are invited to usher in the holiday season by attending a full day of festivities in their city’s downtown district.
The day after Thanksgiving, Frosty Friday will be returning to town for the enjoyment of individuals and families alike. Printing companies may be seeing an increase in orders as the businesses participating in this event prepare to post advertisements about the special deals they plan to offer.
A number of stores in the area will be extending their hours to accommodate thousands of shoppers, including Aspire Boutique, Dancing Bear, Hunting Creek Outfitters, and Urban Cottage. Several restaurants, including Frederick Coffee Company and Cafe, Beans and Bagels, and Brewer’s Alley, will be opening early for breakfast.
Visitors will hear live renditions of their favorite holiday songs as they stroll through the streets. Children will be able to visit Santa Claus, as well as meet Frosty the Snowman, the Grinch, Scrooge, and other classic Christmastime characters. Attendees will also have a chance to go on carriage rides and greet a miniature horse named Buster.
S’mores and hot cocoa will be available to the public at no cost. Shoppers who spend a total of $100 while patronizing a minimum of two downtown stores will be eligible to win free gifts from a special Snowflake Tree.
Frosty Friday will take place on November 29. It will officially run from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm, although some shops and restaurants will be opening earlier and closing later.
