Carnival-style arts gala to touch down in Catonsville area

February 4, 2014 by

Residents of Catonsville and other nearby communities are invited to attend a carnival-themed fundraiser for the benefit of the arts.

This coming weekend, the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County will be hosting its 16th Annual Gala at the Hilton BWI Hotel in Linthicum Heights. The demand for banner printing has likely been on the increase as the evening of the event draws nearer.

In previous years, the Arts Council embraced a Mardi Gras theme for the gala. This month’s fundraiser will be a celebration of Brazilian culture. It will feature authentic cuisine and music from Brazil. It will also include performances by the Sambart Dancers, who will appear in full traditional costume and encourage the crowd to learn their moves.

Attendees will be able to participate in a variety of silent and live auctions throughout the course of the three-hour event. They will have the chance to score a vacation to Florida, a weekend trip to Annapolis, and free meals at local restaurants. Proceeds from the evening will go toward the Arts Council’s performing arts, visual arts, and historic preservation programs.

The gala will take place on Saturday, February 8 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Individual tickets are priced at $150.

The Hilton BWI Hotel is located at 1739 West Nursery Road. Those seeking further information may contact the Arts Council at (410) 222-7949.
